Christ died for me: so what should I do?

14For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead: 15And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.

14For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead: 15And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again. 16Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more. 17Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

20I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

19For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God. 20I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. 21I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

21For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:

21For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: 22Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: 23Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously: 24Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

Think first

Read Galatians 2:20. What does Paul say changed in his life because Jesus "loved me, and gave himself for me"?

Show the explanation

Our explanation

Paul writes: "the love of Christ constraineth us." Jesus "died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again."

For Paul it was personal: "the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me." Peter adds that Christ suffered for us, "leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps."

This is where hearing becomes doing. Write a note: if Jesus gave himself for you, what would living "unto him" look like this week?
